The last time the circus came to our town and I took Summer was about 10 years ago. She was potty training at the time. And she peed on my lap during the show. It was memorable, can you tell? Going to the circus this time was a spontaneous decision - and I'm so glad we went! It was a fun family day... except for the French bicycle guy, whose humor (and language) was a little sketchy. Hubby loved his act, though. It was hilarious.

We fed the girls a really good lunch before we left so hopefully we would avoid some of the whining associated with being bombarded by popcorn, cotton candy, and snow cones once we got inside. Poor SuperGirl... the minute we walked through the doors she felt as if she hadn't eaten in weeks! We managed to hold her off until intermission, when her sweet daddy went and bought her a $10 bag of cotton candy... but hey, it came with a hat!!

Prior to the show, we took the kids down to the floor to see some of the stars up close and personal. They jumped rope, tried out the trapeze, and even got to sit on the motorcycle!!

Once the show began, the girls were quiet... except for SuperGirl who kept saying how much her grandparents would enjoy watching the show, too! This guy, in the contraption below gave me the heebie jeebies. He really scared me to death... but not as much as the girl in the rings. Something about flinging around and no net doesn't do much for my tummy.

This gal was interesting. Summer was taking notes on how good her splits are. We have a thing going here at the house... get the splits down and she gets $100. Hmm. I'm only making her do them on the ground, not hanging from a rope.

The most exciting acts were the elephants, tigers, and weenie dogs. The girls loved them! Me, too. After our little elephant ride at Christmas, I was expecting the girls to want to jump in on this one... that is, until they saw how much pee they left on the circus ring floor!

All in all, it was a fun day. Hubby took us out to dinner after the show. The only disappointment of the day was that there was no trapeze act and no high wire! It was only a one ring circus - I had no idea they did one ring circuses!
What fun!! Your family does such neat things together.
